The Skylarking Bookclub will be back with a bang in May with one of this year’s most-anticipated novels, Chain-Gang All-Stars by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah. Some of you may have met Nana or heard him speak at the 2022 Unbound Book Festival when he was here to talk about his brilliant short story collection, Friday Black.
Chain-Gang All Stars is a hell of a book. It’s a kaleidoscopic, excoriating look at the American prison system’s unholy alliance of systemic racism, unchecked capitalism, and mass incarceration, and a clear-eyed reckoning with what freedom in this country really means. We are already looking forward to the discussion!
As usual, we’ll be offering the book for sale at a 15% discount… note, though, that it does not go on sale until May 2.
