The Standard Spa: $100.00
With a Skylark Reading Spa you get to spend a delicious hour or two at our Columbia store, for some luxurious literary pampering (alliteration fail). One of our team of booksellers will learn all about your favorite reads by having you complete an informal online survey, and will then suggest a range of possible titles for you to choose from, specifically chosen to suit your tastes. What makes this so much fun? As part of the Reading Spa, you have $100 to spend on any books you like. In other words: totally guilt-free shopping. Bring. It. On.
The Reading Spa includes $100 to spend on books, some of our amazing Tazos chocolate, and a Skylark mug.

The Couples’ Spa: Double the Fun!: $175.00
Just like the regular reading spa, only for two. You get: $175 to spend on books (you decided how to split it!); two Skylark mugs; two bits of chocolate; and a small Skylark tote.
The Super Luxury Spa: $250.00
Oh, the pampering. This package gets the lucky recipient $200.00 to spend on books, a mug, chocolate, AND an incredibly soft and comfortable Skylark hoodie AND one of our very swanky large-size Skylark totes to carry it all away in.
Your questions answered
I am buying a Reading Spa as a gift. Do I need to book an appointment at the same time?
No, when you’re buying a Reading Spa as a gift, all we require is your name, the recipient’s name, and any gift message. Your recipient can then book their appointment at their convenience and their Reading Spa gift certificate will have all the information they need.
Do I need to book my Reading Spa session in advance?
Yes, our Reading Spa sessions are available Monday – Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. You can book by phone, email, contacting us through this website or by popping into the shop.
Can I have my Reading Spa on a weekend?
We don’t offer Reading Spas on a weekend (or in the last few days before Christmas) because the shop floor is so busy that we can’t guarantee the relaxing one-on-one experience that the Reading Spa is designed to give. Similarly there are a finite number of Reading Spas we can do each day because we’re committed to making sure that all of our Reading Spa customers have a relaxing, informative and enjoyable time with us.
No. None of our Reading Gifts are time-limited. So don’t worry if it takes you a little while to find space in your (or our) calendar.
Do you offer Reading Spas for children?
Yes, absolutely! We offer Reading Spas for all ages and love nothing more than helping a child find or expand his or her love of reading. The Reading Spas are the same price but a parent can of course sit in on the Reading Spa (if they’re allowed.)
What information do I need to provide before arriving?
When you book your Skylark Reading Spa we’ll ask you for a brief description of your reading tastes (whether you prefer fiction or non-fiction and a couple of your favorite books or authors) so that we can match you with a member of our team.
Who will my Reading Spa be with?
Based on the information you provide when booking in, we’ll match you up on the day with the member of our team with the most compatible reading tastes and book knowledge. If you’re familiar with Skylark already then feel free to request your favorite bookseller!
Our Reading Spa sessions usually last around 90 minutes, but of course you’re welcome to spend as long as you like at Skylark afterwards.
I’ve lost my certificate. Can I still book my Reading Spa?
Yes! We keep a record of all of our Spa purchasers and recipients, so if you can’t track down your certificate just give us a call or drop us an email and we’ll work it out.
What if I need to cancel my appointment?
If for some reason you can’t make it to a Reading Spa that you have booked, please just let us know as soon as possible and we will fit you in at another time.
Can my friend and I have our Reading Spas together?
Yes, if you have similar reading tastes as a friend or relative, then you’re welcome to have your Reading Spas together. You’ll definitely each need a certificate, so that you can both take away plenty of books. If your tastes are really different we recommend booking separate sessions to get the most out of the experience.
